Living a Life of Purpose with Positivity

I find positivity to be something that can be harnessed from the simplest of things. Like helping a friend out, feeding water to the birds, and treating myself to ice cream whenever I feel like I’m struggling with life. At times, it is indeed very hard to see the bright side of things, but the act of actively trying to stay positive keeps up the morale one needs to get through life successfully. It is an act of defiance to hardship itself!

One of my most significant moments during the Fellowship was when we were to go through Elizabeth Gilbert’s video in the online course “Living a Life of Purpose”. The letter the young girl had written to Liz resonated so much with me, and it reminded me of how I felt during the early period of my undergraduate studies. I remember feeling confused; unsure of what to pursue, trying a bit of everything to see if I could sustain it. I eagerly waited for Liz’s answer, and it was like a breath of fresh air!

Her advice was so realistic. It didn’t feel like a lot of the cliche, rehearsed lines that a lot of other motivational speakers narrate often. It was precise, and the tone with which she delivered it was motivating and reassuring. I downloaded the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” that week, and it was an amazing watch!

The advice and the material of the course gave me clarity on things which I was previously unsure of, and I am grateful to Liz Gilbert, for her advice, which helped me, as it would a lot of other people navigating through life. I hope I can put all of the wisdom to work, as I start on another chapter of my life, after Amal.
